COLLECTION
Rioland extra virgin oil is the result of a careful process of the olives collection by the most expert olive groves in the area. They contribute with their experience and good work in the production of the olives, from which we supply and add to our own harvest.
The collection takes place at the optimal moment of maduration, according to the characteristics of each variety, with predominance to make on early pickup to obtain a bright color, and more pronounced smell and flavors.
The method to harvest the olives varies depending on the type of olive tree or plantation.
In this way, we can highlight three collection methods; the manual method, known as “ordeño” (milking) is used to collect the fruit of the oldest trees, the shaking method, either manual of mechanical, is used for those olive trees that are not ready for heavy machinery and finally, the fully mechanized method in which the collection is done with a harvester an umbrella.
